"The performance in Split was a lot more than I expected. At this stage of the season I was running off fumes, but it just shows that the javelin is an event that relies heavily on technique. You can feel physically tired, but if you get the technique right then you can still throw far. The week before I had another good competition in Brussels, cheap Chicago Cubs Hats throwing 89.88m – my second best throw of the year.
"When I showed them to him, we decided that we’d all wear the hats for the introduction to the crowd, and then we each took it in turn to take our last throw while wearing the hat. It seemed to work well for me, because I threw a winning 89.26m on my final throw, a competition record. I won’t be keeping the hat as a lucky charm though,Cheap Atlanta Braves Hats because Stuart now has them.
"The competition was very light-hearted too and those who were in the stadium or watching on TV may have noticed some interesting head gear being worn by us javelin throwers! New Zealand thrower Stuart Farquhar asked me to bring two authentic Norwegian beanie hats with me to Split, as he can’t get them where he lives. wholesale Atlanta Braves Hats So I did – only the hats I brought along were the wrong ones. They were just two ugly hats.
"It seems like it was only a few weeks ago that I opened my season, and now it has come to an end. I had the pleasure of closing my season at the IAAF / VTB Bank Continental Cup in Split. The javelin took place at the same time as the women’s high jump, discount Atlanta Braves Hats so there was an electric atmosphere in the stadium.

Stephen is a real child of Broadway
Four years ago, he finally did. 'I thought, I’m reaching an age where if I want to put down on paper what I think about songwriting for the theatre and the musicals, now is the time to do it.’
Finishing the Hat takes its name from the song in Sunday in the Park with George that describes Seurat reflecting on the creative process. 'Studying the hat/Entering the world of the hat/Reaching through the world of the hat/Like a window.’ cheap New era winter hats Sondheim says he was originally asked to do a book of collected lyrics 14 years ago. 'I said, sure, if I can write some essays to go with them. What I actually meant was, I don’t write prose, so… But they then said, fine, which was… unfortunate. So I said, I’ll get back to you.’
Sondheim rolls his eyes when I put it to him that the delayed success of much of his work suggests an artist ahead of his time. 'That phrase always makes me a little chilly, because I don’t know what it means. But I do think audiences become more sophisticated. You try something out on them and they say, “Ugh”. You try it a second time and they say, wholesale New era winter hats “Oh”. You try it a third time and they say, “Ooh”. You try it a fourth time and they say, “Oh, that’s awfully old hat.”’ He laughs. 'That’s the history of art, is it not?’
'Stephen is a real child of Broadway,’ says his friend the impresario Cameron Mackintosh, who has produced a number of Sondheim musicals. 'He’s never approached his work thinking, the last thing I want is a hit on Broadway. cheap Rockstar hatsHe wants it. However, he is the first to admit that he is attracted to subjects that often have, mostly have, some sort of dark exploration of human nature.’

Any research combining the words "
This research comes from evolutionary psychologists, who are the people who've told us in the past that girls like pink because our female ancestors used to spend much of their time foraging for berries (not blackberries, obviously). Evolutionary psychologists relate everything modern humans do to the long-ago past, supposedly demonstrating the primary role of unconscious reproductive urges; they're very keen on gender difference, even when what they're studying is as likely to have a cultural explanation as a biological one. This lot have studied male reactions to the way women walk and concluded that men can't tell whether women are wearing heels or flats.Wholesale DC shoes hats Apparently it's part of a wider study of attraction, but it's certainly not going to send me rushing to my shoe cupboard to clear out everything with a heel.
Any research combining the words "shoes" and "women" is guaranteed to make headlines. So I wasn't surprised to read last week that "women who hope a pair of killer heels will help them attract a man are wasting their time", a revelation which was illustrated in at least one newspaper by a photograph of Victoria Beckham in a pair of platform boots with spike heels. Now, I'm far from certain that Ms Beckham was trying to attract a man – Cheap NFL hatsshe works in the fashion industry, so she's hardly likely to step out in trainers – but I can say with confidence that nothing to do with shoes is ever that simple.

Wearing Pork Pie Hat
This is just what the Pope was hoping for, a conversation piece that would help save his reputation in light of all the negative press he and his church had been getting lately. Pope Benedict thanked Skoob for his input, finished his ale, and got back into the Popemobile, ordering his driver to proceed directly to Lock & Co. Hatters where he purchased two pork pie hats, one in straw for the summer months, and one in black wool for the winter months, which he wore out of the haberdashery.
Those close to the Pope say that all this could have been avoided had the Pope gone about his merry way after spying a Londoner outside a local pub sporting the famous style of hat. "He asked us to stop the Popemobile so that he could get out and ask the gentleman if he liked wearing the pork pie hat. wholesale New era winter hatsThe gentleman in the hat, who would only give his name as Skoob, told the Pope that at first it was difficult to get used to the fact that he looked like Buster Keaton in the hat, but after wearing it several times while out and about, he'd gotten many compliments and now wears it everywhere he goes. He told the Pope that the hat has enabled him to make friends all over the globe."
Said one protester, "Regardless of the fact that the pork pie hat has little, if anything, to do with flesh, we still believe that until they remove the name pork pie from the description of the hat, they have a long way to go in convincing us that someone, somewhere isn't associating a pork pie hat with an ordinary pork pie."
Animal rights protesters were outside Lock & Co.cheap Rockstar hats Hatters in London Tuesday in force with plans to pelt anyone with fake pigs' blood who exiting the store wearing a pork pie hat. The Pope, visiting London, was not aware of the protest and was immediately attacked when he came out of the store wearing a black wool pork pie hat and carrying a hat box with a straw pork pie hat that he'd also purchased to don in the summer months.

Donovan Mcnabb
WR Antonio Bryant was released by the Cincinnati Bengals jersey . The team also put former Giants FS Gibril Wilson (knee) on the IR list. … Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (ankle) will be cleared to practice this week, but is not expected to play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Miami Dolphins. … Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger will meet with commissioner Roger Goodell after the preseason to see if his personal-conduct suspension will be reduced from six games to four.
Briefs
"I felt great," Harvin said. "Just glad to get back out there with my teammates and work some of the rust off. I've got a lot of work to do, conditioning-wise, but it felt good to get out there."
After another battery of tests last week, and a promising preseason debut Saturday, the Minnesota Vikings jersey ' receiver hopes he is getting closer to figuring out a debilitating medical condition that has plagued him for most of his life. He had two catches against the Seahawks.
Percy Harvin's migraine headaches have been a riddle that no one has been able to solve.
Harvin optimistic
"I don't think it's too serious. It's not a big setback," Shanahan said. "I would anticipate him being able to practice in a couple of days."
The news from Shanahan was more positive concerning running back Clinton Portis, who sprained his right ankle against the Jets.
Shanahan said the leg is too sore for McNabb to play Thursday against the Arizona Cardinals jersey .
McNabb hasn't practiced since spraining his left ankle in the second preseason game against Baltimore.
"I really don't know for sure," Shanahan said Sunday. "That's why it's day by day. We'll see how it goes."
It could be a smoke screen or just a cautious assessment of his quarterback's health, but Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said he's not certain Donovan McNabb jersey will be available for the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

Kansas City Chiefs has not sold out and will be blacked out
"We have a couple dozen regulars who will be disappointed, but they'll just watch another game," said Vicki Doble, owner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Co. in Tampa. "Last year I noticed more talking than watching during Bucs games. Some stopped paying attention after so many losses."
Kirk Dreyfus, bar manager at Chammps Americana sports bar in Tampa, said he's seen more people coming in to watch other teams because of the Bucs' crummy record in recent years.
"In my four years here, the Bucs have had only one winning season," he said.
Last year, the Bucs avoided local broadcast blackouts, which occur when NFL teams don't sell out their home games. It seems as though that won't be the case this fall. For instance, Saturday's preseason home opener against the Kansas City Chiefs has not sold out and will be blacked out within 75 miles of Raymond James Stadium. The 10-county blackout includes pay-per-view service including Bucs games broadcast on NFL Sunday Ticket, which is aired in dozens of local sports bars.
"It's ridiculous they're blacking out games, but I don't think it will hurt us much," said Jeff Barrett, manager at Gator's in Treasure Island, which last fall drew 500 to big Florida college games but about 100 for Sunday Bucs games. "People here are especially fair-weather fans who revert to an old favorite NFL team when the Bucs are losing."
Barrett and several sports bar managers would prefer more Bucs wins because local fans who whooped it up during the Bucs glory days tend to spend more.
In playoff years, sports bars were often packed. But since the team's recent extended swoon, more transplanted locals hit the bars to follow their previous home teams with winning records like the Steelers, Saints, Patriots, Colts and Cowboys.
Dave Mangione, a partner in Hattricks, a downtown Tampa sports bar often jammed with 100 Bucs fans on Sundays, agreed that fans will find other teams to follow on TV.
"People are still going to watch their football," he said.
With the Bucs in the NFL's second-worst market for joblessness behind Detroit, the team said its ticket sales plight is as much about local economics as wins and losses. Two of last year's playoff teams, San Diego and Cincinnati, imposed blackouts last week.
Restaurants equipped with NFL Sunday Ticket say their Sunday business is better during the NFL season than the offseason. But the service provides them 14 other NFL games to show when the local team is blacked out.
They have been impressed by Huggins' speed and big-play ability. He made an impact Saturday against Miami by gaining 55 yards on eight carries, including a 35-yarder during the third quarter.
Cadillac Williams is expected to start, but the plan is for Huggins, in his second season after going undrafted out of Hofstra, to enter by at least the second quarter.
"You want to see how good is Kareem Huggins," coach Raheem Morris said. "How good would he be behind the (starting offensive) line? What would he look like if he has an opportunity? You just want to get a look at some people under the fire. And he's one of those guys you want to try to get out there a little bit earlier to see if he can do it."
To that end, during Wednesday's practice at One Buc Place, Huggins got snaps with the first-team offense while it was paired against the scout-team defense.
LEWIS to DEBUT: CB Myron Lewis, a third-round pick in April, was not on the field for the preseason opener because of a strained hamstring but is expected to suit up Saturday.
Lewis has missed valuable time in training camp. That has helped E.J. Biggers take the lead in the battle at nickel back, which also includes Elbert Mack. Lewis has been doing his best off the field to keep pace.
"It's always frustrating when you're standing back watching," Lewis said. "I've been out here getting a lot of mental reps, and I'm in the film room getting more. And I've been able to take it from the classroom to the field."
Of his first game, Lewis said he is beginning to feel the anticipation.
"I'm real anxious," he said.
Lewis looked like a guy who was serious about making an impact during Wednesday's practice. Among his highlights was an interception of a pass Mack tipped. Lewis corralled the ball and went the other way for what would have been a touchdown.
"I came off my break clean," he said. "Then it was off to the races."
Said Morris: "Myron's hungry. He watched (Saturday's) game. It's his turn this week."

Houston DE Mario Williams
The Houston Texans revealed on Monday that tests done on Mario Williams showed that the defensive end has no additional injuries beyond the sore hip that has kept him out of action since the first day of training camp.
Williams traveled to Philadelphia to seek a second opinion from sports hernia specialist Dr. Mario Williams Meyers when his hip didn't respond to an injection of pain medication, according to the team's official website. Williams' pain moved into his pelvic region and groin area and did not respond to treatment The Houston Chronicle reports.
"Great news on Mario," Texans coach Gary Kubiak said after practice on Monday morning. "He went up there for a second opinion, and basically, all the reports were good."
Kuharsky also notes that the Seahawks had expressed interest as well as the Patriots, but Houston in light of Schobel's family situation appears to be the only serious consideration.
Aaron Schobel said he'd take a couple of more weeks to decide if he's playing in 2010 or not for another NFL club. For now that timetable seems to be accurate.
Though Houston DE Mario Williams is still dealing with inflammation in his hip, which is keeping him out of action in the camp setting with the Texans, Schobel remains undecided about his playing future. As ESPN blogger Paul Kuharsky astutely points out, the longer he waits and the more time Williams misses, the higher Schobel's price tag could climb.

LeSean McCoy is a smaller back
He was more effective as a receiver, with 40 receptions for 308 yards. At 5'10" and 198 pounds, LeSean McCoy is a smaller back, but he isn't a blazer and didn't produce many big plays as a rookie.
While he will receive the majority of the team's touches at the position, he will likely relinquish the short-yardage work to Mike Bell or Leonard Weaver, which limits his upside.
In addition, look for Bell and Weaver to be used late in games when the Eagles are looking to close out the contest. McCoy figures to have a solid season, but there is a good chance he will be drafted higher than he should be. Keep him on your radar, but don't overpay for a player who will likely be an upper-tier fantasy backup at season's end.
After struggling a bit in this morning's practice, Kevin Kolb put together a few nice plays in a row, getting rid of the ball quickly to Brent Celek over the middle and LeSean McCoy in the left flat. The Eagles running back showed off his pass catching skills in this morning's practice, hauling one in over the middle of the field as well.
Riley Cooper continued to make big plays down the field, catching a bomb from Kolb. That said, the defense didn't seem to be pushing too aggressively in what really seemed to be more of a walkthrough than a practice. Still, that didn't stop the fans from saluting their newest training camp hero with a round of cheers.
During positional drills, the defensive line worked on dropping back into coverage, with Brandon Graham getting a good amount of one-on-one coaching. Moise Fokou was in the group as well, and should he see playing time as a defensive end, his ability to drop back into coverage will allow the Birds to cover up their defensive schemes even more by confusing quarterbacks at the line of scrimmage.
Head coach Andy Reid seems to like the concept of lining Fokou up with a hand in the dirt, "He's a real good pass rusher, so we knew that coming in. He was that in college, and I think he had six sacks or something his senior year. So, he knows how to rush the passer and we want to give him an opportunity to do that." Reid said that Fokou would most likely be used as a pass rusher only in Nickel situations.
Jeremy Maclin starts opposite Jackson, and while he isn't as dynamic, he has the talent to become one of the league's top No. 2 receivers in short order. Jason Avant is the team's third wide receiver but could start for many other teams in the league. Although he isn't a burner, Avant has a knack for getting open, and he doesn't drop many balls.
Brent Celek had an outstanding season in 2009, emerging as one of the league's top pass-catching tight ends. He was a favorite of McNabb's in the red zone and was Kolb's favorite target during his two starts last season. The Eagles are expecting another big season from Celek in 2010.
The running load will be handled mostly by second-year player LeSean McCoy. McCoy had a decent rookie season, and the team hopes he can take another step forward and match former Eagle Brian Westbrook's production.
While McCoy is a decent prospect, that expectation may be a bit of stretch, particularly in 2010. Mike Bell and Leonard Weaver will back up McCoy. Both players are big backs who like to run between the tackles.
While the Eagles are loaded on offense, the defense has more question marks. Other than defensive end Trent Cole and cornerback Asante Samuel, the team lacks playmakers on defense. Some would even dispute Samuel's reputation as a top defender, given his propensity for getting burned due to his frequent gambles for big plays and his poor tackling ability.
The Eagles shouldn't be considered a rebuilding team, nor are they truly in a reloading phase in 2010. While expectations in Philadelphia are high, it is worth noting that first-year starters at quarterback often struggle to close out games. In a division as competitive as the NFC East, blowing even a single game can translate into the loss of a playoff spot.

Calvin Johnson isn't dragging three defenders all over the field
Meanwhile, the Lions' other top running back - running back Jahvid Best - is ready to carry the load for Detroit this season although he's starting his career by carrying his teammates' shoulder pads.
Nate Burleson is here to help, any way he can. If that means getting open so Calvin Johnson isn't dragging three defenders all over the field, that's what he plans to do.
If it means providing veteran leadership, no problem. If it means organizing weekly bowling outings to bond the receivers, sure. If it means being the voice of the famously low-key Johnson, hey, Burleson will stretch those vocal cords.
"I'll speak for him!" said Burleson, whose personality bounces off walls. "I'll be his buddy, his sidekick and his promoter. He has just about every tool you can have -- height, speed, strength, the ability to jump. He's the closest thing to Randy Moss, and in my eyes, Randy Moss is one of the biggest threats in NFL history."
In Calvin Johnson's three seasons with the Lions, that's primarily what he has been -- a threat. Dangerous and occasionally dominant, Johnson has been the quietest star in the NFL.
Every week began with the Lions trying to figure out how to get him the ball. Every season ended with the belief Johnson could do much more. As the team has switched quarterbacks and offensive coordinators and directions, Johnson has gotten lost at times. Frustrated, too.
For the Lions to truly change, that has to change, and Calvin Johnson's talent must be maximized. Now, Matthew Stafford and Johnson are going through their first camp together as starters, and the growing chemistry is apparent. The Lions have more experienced players on offense, which should lead to more continuity, more noise.
Burleson was an expensive addition, signed from the Seahawks for $25 million. GM Martin Mayhew and coach Jim Schwartz also traded for tight end Tony Scheffler, desperately placing a premium on getting a premium out of their chief investments, Johnson and Stafford.
Johnson likes what he sees and doesn't mind saying it. He just doesn't say it as vociferously as Burleson.
"Obviously, people are gonna talk about the one-two punch, but I want to be the best receiving corps in the NFL," Burleson said Monday. "My goal is to come in and make enough plays to where Calvin will get more single coverage and Bryant (Johnson) will make plays. You hear about T.O. (Terrell Owens) and Chad Johnson (Chad Ochocinco) in Cincinnati. I'm gonna say firsthand, we will be the most-respected receiving corps after it's all said and done."
At least that's the plan. Burleson loves the plan, just as he did in Minnesota, as Moss' sidekick. Burleson welcomes it, cheerfully saying, "I've played Robin to someone else's Batman before."
With the Lions, there have been too many Jokers for too long. (Sorry.) Of all their issues, receiver has been particularly vexing, going to Matt Millen's infamous drafting strategy. A little stability would be nice, and Burleson is eager to provide it.
The receivers' bowling get-together Tuesday nights was one way to fit in. Another was the unusual step Burleson took shortly after arriving, when he stood up in a meeting room and addressed his fellow receivers.
"There's a lot of things that can get between players when new guys come along, especially when money's involved," Burleson said. "So I made an announcement that I've been in the league long enough to know, as a guy who just got paid, I'm gonna play a lot. So my goal is to prove I'm worth more than what they paid me. I'm here for the team, not to pat myself on the back."
No, he'd much rather pat Johnson on the back, partly because Johnson has no intention of patting himself.
Ask him about the rest of the offense and Johnson doesn't mind expanding.

49ers coach Mike Singletary says David Baas out with 'mild concussion'
Baas and the rest of his 49ers teammates made it through the controversial "nutcracker drill" unscathed during the morning practice, but a one-on-one blocking drill ended Baas' day just minutes later. He went to a knee after taking a hit to the head and was tended to by athletic trainer Jeff Ferguson.
Baas was not on the field for the afternoon practice.
"From the early reports, I think he has a light concussion. A mild concussion," Singletary said. "But I'll find more out about that."
Iupati took over as the starting left guard.
Baas got off to a rough start in last year's camp, too, when he sustained torn plantar fascia during the nutcracker drill on the first day of camp. The injury cost him three weeks.
A year earlier, Baas tore a pectoral muscle during an off-season weightlifting session and missed most of training camp.
Baas fares better when the regular-season kicks in gear. He has appeared in 63 of the 49ers' past 64 games.
Quarterback Alex Smith reiterated how comfortable he is in Patrick Willis the offense now that he has the same coordinator for back-to-back seasons, a career first.
"Take a still picture of where we were at this time last year and it's not even close," said. "It's # not even the same game. It's night and day for everybody.
"And it's not just me. "... It's all 11 guys on offense and how much better we feel with the system now and where we're at."
Singletary snapped at the first-team offense for its slow tempo early in practice. He made it clear that he wanted to hear a "pop" coming out of the huddle.
"I want our guys to understand is that this is a work in progress," Singletary said. "We have to build each day."
Tight end Vernon Davis made two terrific catches. In the morning session, he found a seam over the middle and quarterback Nate Davis hit him in stride with a 30-yard pass. In the afternoon session, Davis caught a similar pass from Smith after getting a half-step on free safety Dashon Goldson.
Defensive tackle Khalif Mitchell looked impressive during the nutcracker drill, including a solid performance against first-round pick Anthony Davis. Singletary said Mitchell is one of the players who can learn most from the drill because he's a raw talent who needs better technique.
"(Mitchell) has shown me that he is a very gifted young man that has to get under control," Singletary said. "He is one of the guys that will put his head down. And guys that put their head down tend to have a concussion from time to time. So that's why we're taking our time to go through it, so (players) understand."

New York Giants have signed every one of their draft picks
"I feel really good. I'm just waiting for the trainers to give me the go-ahead," Phillips said. "They know what's right. They know what's best for me. I'm pretty sure they'll get me out there sooner than later. I don't think I'm going to miss too much time."
Tom Coughlin has said he expects Phillips to work on the sidelines for the first week of camp. Then he may be cleared to return.
COOKING UP A WINNER
The highlight of the first day's light practice was a "hot potato" drill/tournament run by new defensive coordinator Perry Fewell. Players stood in circles, batting the ball around like a hot potato. If a player let it hit the ground, he was eliminated. The competition kept going until there was one player left standing: safety Sha'reff Rashad.
Players seemed to love it, which is no surprise considering they seem energized by everything Fewell does. It was also different, which always helps break up the monotony. Asked if he ever had a team that ran a "hot potato" drill, Coughlin said, "I had a Little League baseball team that did that."
TESTING, TESTING
LB Keith Bulluck (knee) and RB Ahmad Bradshaw (ankle/feet) both skipped the morning conditioning test, but participated in the Giants' light afternoon practice. Bulluck will likely practice only once per day. ... TE Kevin Boss (ankle) had the option to skip the test, but declined. He also participated in practice. ... OL Kevin Boothe (pectoral) was placed on the PUP list. ... All 76 players who took part passed the conditioning test, which consisted of 10 sprints from sideline to sideline and back.
NASHVILLE FINALE
Bulluck took out a full-page ad in The Tennessean Sunday to thank fans of the Titans for supporting him the previous 10 years. "It was my last little farewell," he said. "Now I'm a New York Giant."
As of the night before camp opened, the New York Giants have signed every one of their draft picks.
Jason Pierre-Paul signed a five-year, $20.05 million deal with 11.6 million guaranteed to go along with Linval Joseph who signed earlier in the evening to a four-year, $4.2 million deal with $2.7 million guaranteed.
This is great news for the Giants as they will have all of their draft Brandon Jacobs picks in uniform ready to go as camp gets underway today.
Pierre-Paul (or JPP as I will now refer to him as) is a pass rushing specialist with enormous potential, but few believe he will see the field that often with three proven defensive ends in front of him.
Make no mistake, JPP should see at least some action, especially on third downs, but it makes sense for the Giants to ease him into the lineup considering he only played one year of Division I college ball, so he is still very raw
So if he has to fight off a training camp challenge from young William Beatty ... well, what else is new? Diehl has started in all 112 games of his NFL career, went to the Pro Bowl last year, still doesn't have job security - and that's fine with him.
Just don't expect Diehl to give up that job without one heck of a fight.
"I don't plan on losing this battle," Diehl said.
He undoubtedly found himself in a battle, though, as training camp opened Sunday at the University at Albany - maybe the only battle for a job on the Giants' offense. The coaching staff has spent the offseason pondering a shakeup to an offensive line that has been together for three years.
The plan would be to move Beatty, last year's second-round pick, to left tackle if he can beat out Diehl, who would then switch to left guard, sending veteran Rich Seubert to the bench. So it's not a straight Diehl versus Beatty competition, but it still is a little bit personal to Diehl, who wants no part of going back to guard after three years on the marquee spot on the line.
But Diehl, 29, honestly doesn't sound fazed, even though his contract Eli Manning calls for him to make about $1 million more per season if he plays tackle. He also understands the business and why he may be pushed out.
"They drafted a tackle in the second round, so what do you think?" he said. "This is the NFL. This is what it's all about. It's about creating competition. (But) that's fine. Let people say what they want to say. I know what I'm capable of. I know I'm going to be a better left tackle than I was last year."
Diehl's play at left tackle wasn't necessarily the issue that got the coaches thinking about the change. The play of the line sagged in 2009, particularly in the run game that averaged only 114.8 yards per game. Age is starting to creep in - three current starters are 31 or over - and injuries took their toll last year as well. Beatty impressed the coaches when he filled in for injured right tackle Kareem McKenzie for three games at the end of the season.
A change isn't guaranteed, though. The odds still seem in favor of the old starting Justin Tuck five returning. In fact, offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride keeps warning everyone not to count his old gang out.
"I've said many times, the five of them are very proud, tenacious, competitive," Gilbride said. "And I don't see any of that group relinquishing their starting job easily. Someone's going to have to really come up and do a phenomenal job to wrestle a starting job away from them."

The Seattle Seahawks are located in Renton
"I'm not thinking too much," said Seahawks' new free safety Earl Thomas. "I'm getting the playbook down pretty good. And I'm just able to run out there and play now. I feel a whole lot more comfortable. I'm not just running out there like a deer in the headlights. I'm more just settled down and playing ball now."
The oddsmakers at have the new Seattle Seahawks jerseys listed at +250 odds to win the 2010 NFC West.
Leiweke, 50, bolted from Paul Allen's Vulcan Sports conglomerate to accept the minority owner and chief executive role with the Lightning.
Leiweke assumed several executive posts as the top executive of Allen's sports empire, serving as the CEO for both the Seahawks (NFL) and Sounders (MLS).
Considered as an instrumental figure for the purchase and consistent rise of the Sounders in the MLS, Leiweke was not hesitant in sharing his insights for the good of the franchise.
He created a harmonious partnership with Sounders GM Adrian Hanauer and majority owner Joe Roth. The partnership was a factor in the team's successful US Cup championship campaign last season.
Sounders coach Sigi Schmid said he will surely miss Leiweke both as a friend and a great executive in the club's front-office.
"He is somebody who has been tremendous for our organization, especially Aaron Curry the way he has treated the Sounders and the whole Seahawks and Sounders organization," Schmid told reporters Monday. "The respect that was given to the Sounders right from the beginning, that comes from the top.
Leiweke was seen as the man behind the firing of coach Jim Mora Jr. and subsequent hiring of former USC coach Pete Carroll.
City Prosecutor Lynn Moberly said repeated attempts to contact the woman had been unsuccessful. Moreover, Moberly said Issaquah police officers noticed the woman's car in Hill's driveway in the months after the incident.
The prosecutor said the continued contact — despite a court order for Hill and the woman to remain apart — raised "significant concerns" about the case.
In May, Stewart kept a no-contact order in place between Hill and the woman, although she had called for the order to be lifted.
During a July 21 hearing, Moberly said she "put the defense on notice" for the woman's "failure to respond to me, to the police department, to numerous phone calls to her home, to her mother's home, to her workplace, visits by the police department to her workplace." The woman had ignored subpoenas as well.
The city issued a warrant for the woman to appear in court as a witness Deion Branch during the trial.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2010
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers jerseys are owned by Malcom Glazer, their General Manager is Mark Dominik and they will be coached this year by Raheem Morris. The oddsmakers at BODOG.com have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers listed at 60 to 1 odds to win the 2011 NFC Championship.
"It's been fantastic because basically, your whole mindset is different. I'm not going in with all kinds of questions: 'When will I be back at practice? Are the knees going to hold up?'" said Buccaneers RB Cadillac Williams who has enjoyed his first off-season not recovering from a knee injury since 2006. "It was more of me not specifically working on my skills but just trying to get back on the field. This year, it's a matter of me fine tuning my skills, doing a lot of film work. So the whole mentality is different. The whole off-season has been totally different and I feel good."
There really isn't a simple answer. First, here's why the question is so relevant. The Bucs lost Arron Sears due to his personal issues last season, unexpectedly pushing Jeremy Zuttah into the starting lineup at left guard. Then, center Jeff Faine was lost for four weeks because of a triceps injury, delivering another blow. Cast-off Sean Mahan was re-signed to take his place because the team lacked other reliable options.
Though the Bucs have upgraded in other areas, this unit remains largely unchanged. In fact, it has been left a bit exposed again, with left tackle Donald Penn still in a contract holdout and leaning toward staying home when camp starts.
The only addition to speak of came when the team signed former Panthers starter Keydrick Vincent to add depth at guard, and coach Raheem Morris says Vincent will compete with Zuttah in camp. Elsewhere, project Demar Dotson is getting a long look at left tackle, but it's doubtful he's ready to play there full time.
The draft would have been a likely place to find some quality depth, but with so many other needs, the Bucs concentrated on other positions. The best they can hope for is the starters to stay healthy so the lack of depth isn't exposed.
How come the Bucs haven't signed a veteran quarterback, i.e. Jeff Garcia, to help mentor Josh Freeman?
What's odd about the quarterback lineup is that it lacks a passer with extensive NFL experience. In fact, Freeman, with all of 10 appearances, is the most accomplished quarterback on the roster. He's joined by Josh Johnson, Rudy Carpenter and Jevan Snead, with only Johnson having any experience.
Asked about the unusual approach not to back up a young, developing quarterback with a veteran, Morris maintains that position coach Alex Van Pelt, himself a longtime backup quarterback in the NFL, can provide the mentoring Freeman needs. Morris has also said he believes Johnson has the potential to be a longtime backup to Freeman (although he's only under contract through 2011) and is adept at performing the job despite minimal practice reps.
From the looks of things, don't expect the makeup of the team's quarterback ranks to change any time soon.
Why haven't the Bucs made a more aggressive effort to acquire a defensive end/speed edge rusher? There's no one on the roster (Stylez White isn't consistent) that's a proven or potentially consistent excellent pass rusher.
No, the Bucs did not address defensive end this offseason, with the lone exception of using a seventh-round pick on Erik Lorig from Stanford. But don't think they're oblivious to their lack of a pass rush.
In fact, the decision to use their first two picks in the draft on defensive tackles Gerald McCoy and Brian Price should help the pass rush immensely. Though both are interior linemen, theoretically they will help put more of a strain on the interior of opposing offensive lines, thereby collapsing the pocket from the inside. That means quarterbacks will be forced to move laterally, perhaps into an oncoming defensive end.
If it turns out that there's more of a push from the defensive tackles, White, Kyle Moore and whoever else lines up at defensive end will have more success as they'll see mostly one-on-one matchups. The ends, frankly, didn't benefit much last season from a starting tackle duo of Ryan Sims and Chris Hovan.
Why haven't the Bucs signed Donald Penn to a long-term deal? This will give Freeman stability on his weak side.
It's been a relevant question for a long time, and there still isn't an easy answer. There are probably a couple of reasons.
For one, the Bucs are within their rights to tender the restricted free agent offer of $3.1 million Penn was given. He is hardly the only RFA to be affected by the league's labor mess, one that has delayed unrestricted free agency for more than 200 players. The Bucs are leery about setting a precedent here. Also, general manager Mark Dominik is right to wonder whether Penn will continue to show his current dedication to keeping himself in shape rather than gain more than 40 pounds like last season.

The Seahawks weren’t sold on his backup either
Brown, the fifth overall selection in the 2007 NFL draft, enters his fourth season and has yet to live up to the expectations of a top-10 pick. Brown has been a steady contributor on the offensive line, starting every game in the past two years, but his contributions haven't always been positive. In 2009, Brown ranked fourth in the NFL with eight blown blocks, according to Football Outsiders' game-charting statistics. The No. 3 overall pick in 2007, Cleveland's Joe Thomas, has established himself as one of the elite tackles in the game. The Cardinals continue to wait for Brown to do the same and live up to his status as the third-highest-paid player on the team.
The team has pulled out all the stops but none seem to have worked. They have seen players like Matt Hasselbeck, Walter Jones and Marcus Trufant undergo several injuries. They have seen players underperform including Deion Branch, Leroy Hill and Ken Lucas. They have acquired several veteran free agents including T.J Houshmandzadeh and Julius Jones. They have let go Shaun Alexander, Julian Peterson and Rocky Bernard. You get the picture- it's chaos.
The team has also had instability atop the organization. Mike Holmgrem left the team following the 2008 season, with Jim Mora Jr replacing him. This offseason, just days after President of Football Operations Tim Ruskell resigned, Mora was fired and longtime USC coach Pete Carroll was brought in to replace him. Carroll was also made the vice president of football operations.
Carroll has coached in the NFL before and has an average Aaron Curry record. He coached the Jets in 1994 to a 6-10 finish, then coached the Patriots from 1997-1999 for seasons of 10-6, 9-7 and 8-8. He had great success coaching at USC though, which has labelled him as a "college coach". Very few college coaches succeed at the NFL level.
On offense, heading into this year, the team's biggest question is at quarterback. Hasselbeck is 35 years old and threw 17 interceptions last year. Eight of those came in two horrible outings in December though. Hasselbeck was 5-7 as a starter last year, which isn't so bad considering the team he had. With J.P Losman and Charlie Whitehurst behind him, his job isn't really in jeopardy this season.
The team tried to improve at running back this offseason. Julius Jones is not a tough runner and has struggled since leaving Dallas. The Seahawks football jerseys weren't sold on his backup either, Justin Forsett, and traded for Carroll's former RB at USC Lendale White. However White failed a drug test and due to his poor work ethic, he was released just one month later. They also landed Leon Washington hoping he could recover from a compound leg fracture and take the starting job. That is very unlikely.
The Seahawks did make the effort to improve their offensive line as they installed a new system and drafted accordingly.
The passing game will likely be the team's bread and butter this season. Houshmandzadeh is a solid receiver and has sure hands. Branch is an injury-prone player and that will likely open the door for younger players to assume bigger roles.
On defence, the Seahawks jerseys were atrocious against the pass last year. They were ranked 30th last season and 32nd two seasons ago. Injuries to CB Marcus Trufant didn't help either and the team doesn't have enough playmakers.
Seattle's first round pick Earl Thomas will provide immediate help at safety and can fill the playmaking void in the secondary.
The team is still missing a solid pass rush and that will make defending the pass even more difficult.
The line-backing core is not reliable either but this season Lofa Tatupu and David Hawthorne may step up this year as both are returning to their natural positions, Tatupu in the middle and Hawthorne on the weak side.
Seattle's special-teams is hard to evaluate. Olindo Mare is one of the best kickers of this era but punter Jon Ryan and the punt team struggled last year as opponents averaged 11.1 yards per return. If Leon Washington recovers from his injury, he can provide unbelievable playmaking ability and a threat to score on any given play, but that is unlikely.

The Seattle Seahawks have been one of the team reportedly
Other teams reportedly interested in Pitts include Minnesota, San Francisco, Detroit and Philadelphia. Pitts had earlier indicated that the Seahawks were the frontrunners for his services.
Thanks to Dukeshire for finding this audio interview with Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll on National Public Radio's "Wait, Wait. … Don't Tell Me!"
Gregg Doyel of CBS Sports takes Carroll to task for his "Win Forever" book tour.
Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network wonders if five teams are really interested in Terrell Owens' services, as his agent Drew Rosenhaus says.
More Lombardi: He says the Seahawks are a draft away from being a contender.
Dan Pompei of the National Football Post says three scouts he talked to had RB Aaron Curry Harvey Unga ranked as a third-round talent. Pompei said that Unga would have been the eighth running back selected in this year's regular draft in April.
Whether Pete Carroll can get things turned around in Seattle is one of 20 questions Don Banks of Sports Illustrated poses in this precursor to the beginning of NFL training camps.
If you haven't checked it out already, Steve Sabol, the president of NFL Films fills in for Peter King and pens this Monday Morning Quarterback column. It's certainly worth a read.
The NFL suspended new Seattle Seahawks jerseys linebacker Leroy Hill without pay for the first game of the 2010 regular season and fined him an additional game check for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.
Hill will be eligible to return to the Seahawks' active roster Sept. 13 after the team's Sept. 12 game against San Francisco.
Hill is serving 12 months of probation after a marijuana charge in Georgia in April. He was Matt Hasselbeck arrested in Issaquah later in April on suspicion of domestic abuse. The team earlier asked him to stay away from offseason practices before he was allowed to return June 14.
"I was there (as an assistant coach) when he showed up with the 49ers. … I really like him."
He may like him, but there's just not room for T.O. on this year's Seahawks Deion Branch roster. Carroll plans to utilize the guys he already has.
"We're going to continue to work with the guys we've got," Carroll said. "I think our situation is OK with where we are."

Seattle Seahawks Head Coach
Last season was disappointing for Bulger. The Rams finished Deion Branch with the worst record in the league, and Bulger was placed on injured reserve on December 26th.
"Every quarterback in the league wants to be a starter," Bulger told the Baltimore Sun. "If we're winning games and I'm sitting on the sidelines ... I'll be just as happy as [being] a starter."
Bulger spent eight seasons with the Rams, replacing the man who led St. Louis to two Super Bowl appearances and a championship in Kurt Warner.
With such lofty expectations, Bulger didn't disappoint. After two playoff appearances, two Pro Bowl selections, and becoming the fastest quarterback to reach a thousand completions, Bulger inked a six year, $62.5 million contract extension with the Rams in July 2007, putting him in Matt Hasselbeck a group of six quarterbacks making $10 million or more per year.
Soon after the extension, things went downhill. Injuries derailed Bulger's 2007 season, and the team finished with a 3-13 record. Bulger was never able to get back on track, throwing 27 touchdowns to 34 interceptions after signing his extension to finish off his career with the Rams.
A month ago, Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett began a Aaron Curry public campaign to encourage other billionaires to make a "Giving Pledge," and donate at least half of their wealth to charity.
Allen said he has planned to do that for many years, but he had not gone public with his intentions until now.
"He and Bill have talked about this and he thinks it's a good idea to let people know," said David Postman, a spokesman for Allen at Vulcan. "He hopes that maybe it spurs other people to give and he's hoping there will be good things that come of it."
Allen said he wanted to make it clear that his philanthropic efforts "will continue after my lifetime," he said in a statement. "As our philanthropy continues in the years ahead, we will look for new opportunities to make a difference in the lives of future generations."
This year Forbes ranked Allen as the world's 37th richest person with a fortune estimated at $13.5 billion.
His total giving over the years has reached about $1 billion, reflecting eclectic interests new Seattle Seahawks jerseys in science, the arts and education, including nonprofits he founded: the Allen Institute for Brain Science and the Experience Music Project.
While Gates' charity has become global in size and ambition, Allen's has remained mostly local and personal.
"Since the beginning, our philanthropy has been focused in the Pacific Northwest, where I live and work," Allen said. "I'm proud to have helped fund great work done by non-profit groups throughout the region. But there's always more to do."
Leon Washington is perhaps the most intriguing of the team's backs. He is a quiet fantasy producer. His 2009 season was marred by a career threatening injury; he suffered a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula. But in 2008, he ranked 29th in fantasy points while Thomas Jones was putting up career numbers in front of him.
Like Lendale White, the Seahawks nabbed Washington at draft time to shake up it's woeful running game. Leon is ready to get back on the field. "I feel like I'm in better shape than I've ever been in, because I've been in a training mode since last October."
It doesn't hurt that Carroll is quite fond of Leon. "I love the way he plays the game," said Carroll. "I got to see him and thought he was a dynamic player—running, catching, returns. If he's able to add to our offense, I think that's a big plus for us."
Washington's current ADP is 55th RB taken in most drafts. Forsett is going at an ADP of 35. I currently have Forsett ranked at 30th.
Forsett is an NFL underdog. He's not big, but he's determined and committed. While he did not set the world on fire in 2009, his numbers were better overall than the team's starter (Jones). Many believe that given the starting nod in 2010, the 5-foot-8, 194-pound Forsett, could be a force. He did average 5.4 yards in 114 carries with four touchdowns, last season, and grabbed 41 balls out of the backfield.
In fact, this week, the fantasy world is a buzz with Forsett upside and sleeper chatter. Still, even as the team's number one back he's not likely to drastically outperform his 35th ADP selection.

The St. Louis Rams were the worst team in the NFL last year
The connection between the new St. Louis Rams jerseys and BYU running back Harvey Unga seems to get more and more conspicuous each day. The Rams are said to be one of a handful of teams that are particularly keen on Unga. Will they make a move for him in the NFL Supplemental Draft set for this Thursday?

The Oakland Raiders have agreed to contracts with third-round offensive
Kevin Mawae, the president of the NFL Players Association, told The Associated Press on Sunday that the union is aware of developing tests, one of which is a blood test that could detect HGH for up to 14 days. But he said the union believes the test that is currently available, which has only about a 48-hour window of detection, "is not completely reliable."
TUCKER, Ga. - Michael Vick was a no-show at his celebrity golf tournament Sunday after probation officials restricted travel for the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback this weekend.
Vick spokeswoman, Judy Smith, said that Vick's travel has been at the discretion of his probation officer since he was released from prison in a federal dogfighting case in May 2009.
THIBODAUX, La. - Archie Manning has long wondered what it would be like to experience "the madness" that would envelop New Orleans if the Saints won a Super Bowl.
In some ways, he's still wondering.
DALLAS - Ex-Dallas Cowboys linebacker Eugene Lockhart will continue to remain free on supervised release while he waits for his mortgage fraud trial to begin.
Lockhart lawyer Jay Ethington said Friday that the court tightened restrictions on Lockhart's travel. He must now clear all trips ahead of time with authorities rather than check in from the road.
ROSCOMMON, Mich. - Detroit Lions president Tom Lewand pleaded guilty Friday to driving while impaired, two weeks after he was pulled over in northern lower Michigan for driving erratically near a bar.
Lewand was sentenced to six months of probation with US$870 in fines and costs, according to court administrator Cynthia Esckilsen of the 83rd District Court in Roscommon.

who had a brief previous stint with the Atlanta Falcons last year
"Under normal circumstances, we would not issue a public statement regarding a matter still under investigation. However, due to the intense speculation that exists, we believe it is important to make a statement this afternoon regarding Michael Vick.
"Following the incident that occurred in Falcons jerseys on the morning of June 25, Michael and his representatives promptly contacted law enforcement agencies, the Philadelphia Eagles and the National Football League.
"The Eagles were provided with very detailed information during that discussion as to what took place at the event. Those details have not changed in any way over the course of the last week. Our investigation to this point has confirmed and has been consistent with the information that was originally communicated to us."
Lyons, who had a brief previous stint with the new Atlanta Falcons jerseys last year, went undrafted out of the University of Kentucky where he caught 141 career passes for 1,752 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Williams played collegiately at the University of Maine.
He caught 139 career passes for 1,615 yards and 23 touchdowns.
As a senior, he registered 70 receptions for 779 yards and nine touchdowns.

Fred Lane died just inside his home in south Charlotte
Helping out with the camp were former Wilson high school football standouts Re'quan Boyette, Larry Jones, Jumal Rolle and Tobias Brown, a rising sophomore at Catawba College along with Rolle.
"He has worked me to death!," Tobias said of his brother with a broad grin. "He has worked me to death but I love it."
Everette Brown pointed to the efforts of the volunteers as making the event a success.
"I can't ask for anything more from the people here. They really made the event," he said. "We call it Everette Brown Franchise. I'm Everette Brown but the Franchise is the most important part and that's all the people who came out to the event I put my name on."
Brown is heading into his second season with the Panthers jerseys who took him in the second round of the 2009 NFL draft. He hopes to make the football camp and family field day an annual event although he said he might move the date from the holiday weekend so more people could come.
"Today was a great foundation and we can definitely build off it," Brown said. "Bigger and better things for the community and everybody who's going to be a part of it from here on out for years to come."
It was just six years ago Brown was chasing quarterbacks and catching passes on that very turf.
"It's an unreal feeling because (Friday) night I was here with (Beddingfield) Coach (James) Ward, getting things situated on the field and with the lights on, it kind of brought back memories. But at the same time, it seems like it was 10 years ago," Brown said.
It was a horrifying moment in Charlotte's sports history. If you lived here then, you probably remember where you were when you heard of the shooting of Lane, a former new Carolina Panthers jerseys starting running back. I certainly do - it was one of the oddest, saddest days of my journalism career.
Lane, 24, was killed by his estranged wife Deidra Lane at their South Charlotte home.
She shot her husband twice at close range with a 12-gauge, pump-action shotgun. The first blast struck his chest. The second hit the back of his head.
Deidra Lane ultimately pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in 2003 in connection with her husband's death. She was released from prison in 2009. Deidra and Fred Lane had a newborn daughter who was seven days old at the time of the shooting. That child had her 10th birthday last week.
Fred Lane's parents, Fred Sr. and Mary Lane, live in Nashville, Tenn. Fred Lane Sr. has retired after 32 years of teaching and coaching at the middle-school level in Tennessee. He said during a phone interview that the family has no plans for a memorial today on the 10th anniversary of his son's death.

About San Diego Chargers
When McMichael signed a one-year contract on June 3rd, I read this as "Epps isn't playing well." Obviously, in reviewing the Chargers tight end depth, Gates has the number one spot, and Wilson is pretty well locked in at two, unless McMichael shocks us in training camp.
But a fourth guy? That really surprises me. It could mean that one of the four signed tight ends winds up on the practice squad. That would be a waste of money, unless Gates' foot injury is worse than reported.
Three straight for Dan Cappello Jr
Leading harness racing driver Dan Cappello Jr recorded a win in the Fillies and Mares Open for the third consecutive Sunday afternoon at Saratoga. Coming into Sunday, Up Front Kellie Jo had rattled off back to back scores in the $16,500 open with Cappello at the controls before taking this week off.
Instead, it was invader Stacked Deck(cheap Chris Long jersey) that would get the services of the track's current leading driver as Joe Anderson brought the five year old Bettors Delight mare back to town after a stint here a couple months back.
Released at odds of 9-1, Stacked Deck got away seventh in the group of seven top ladies on Sunday but stormed home in the stretch to outpace her rivals and register the 1:55.1 victory.
The win was her seventh of the season. P H Dreamer (discount Chris Long jersey) got up for second while Eve (Jim Devaux) came up third best.

The 10 Players the Pittsburgh Steelers Cannot Do Without in 2010
The loss of a key player to injury or suspension can be the difference-maker for a potential Super Bowl team's season. As the Pittsburgh Steelers can attest, losing more than one of those key players can be the difference between defending your Super Bowl title and missing the playoffs completely.
In 2009, the Steelers lost their way defensively, and while some of it had to do with decision making, it had more to do with losing two game-changing defenders early on.
With All-Pro safety Troy Polamalu out for most of the season, and lacking that extra "disruptive-something" when he was there, the entire Steelers defense changed as a result.
When you take away the most underrated defensive end in the league in Aaron Smith along the way, the Steelers lost two of the biggest cogs in their defense.
While James Harrison, LaMarr Woodley, and the rest of the Steelers linebacking corps get most of the attention and stats, Aaron Smith is the catalyst for those stats, and might be the most important member of the Steelers front seven.
Case in point: The Steelers struggled to stop the run late in games, and the 16th-ranked passing defense was nowhere near the league-leading performance of 2008.
As the Steelers approach the 2010 season, there are 10 players the team cannot afford to lose for a substantial period of time if they hope to right the ship.
